The Faculty of Electrical Engineering in Prague-Dejvice will host another year of the student scientific conference POSTER on Thursday 23 May. The event aims to enable university students to present their first research papers and develop professional contacts. An expert jury will also award the best papers in eight categories at the conference.
 

The Department of Computer Graphics and Interaction at Faculty of Electrical Engineering CTU will host Prof. Alejandra J. Magana and Prof. Bedřich Benes from Purdue University in the United States.

On Wednesday 24 April, Thursday 25 April and Friday 26 April, the Faculty of Electrical Engineering of CTU hosted three final rounds of the traditional Robo Competition for the 2nd grade of primary schools and the corresponding years of multi-year grammar schools. The winners of these independent rounds were the teams Yesterday It Worked (Nový PORG in Prague 4), Hradečtí baráčníci 1 (DDM Dvůr Králové) and Gyrotechnici (Gymnázium Písnická in Prague 4). A total of 115 teams from 60 different schools finally deployed their robots and the best 17 teams will meet once again in the superfinals, from where the absolute winner will emerge - this will take place on 11 May at the Maker Faire Prague.

Six thousand students, one hundred companies, two faculties - this is a brief list of the third edition of the Career Days organized by the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering of CTU and the Faculty of Electrical Engineering of CTU in their premises on the Dejvice campus on 9 and 10 April 2024.

The main partners of this year's Career Days were ČEZ, Škoda Auto, GE, Valeo, Rohde & Schwarz, Qminers, ÚJV and Altron. Recall the atmosphere of the intensive programme, which included company presentations, lectures, group and individual discussions and workshops. The 48th Meeting with Music is dedicated to the work of Bedřich Smetana, a crucial Czech composer whose centenary of the birth we celebrate this year.  On Monday 15th at 18:30, Jitka Čechová will perform in the Zenger Auditorium on the CTU campus at Charles Square. Listeners can look forward to compositions like Macbeth and Witch, The Treasure of Melodies and much more. 

This year's Comic-Con Prague also featured a stand of the Faculty of Electrical Engineering of CTU! Our researchers and students presented a VR application simulating the program on the International Space Station, four-legged and tracked robots and a technical-juggling show Data in Motion. Visitors could also get charged up with a Van de Graaff generator, try soldering, meet Spot the "robodog" or make an original badge! Soak up the atmosphere in our photo gallery!

The demand for graduates of CTU's computer science, electrical engineering and mechanical engineering faculties on the labour market is unceasing. The Faculty of Mechanical Engineering (FME) of CTU and the Faculty of Electrical Engineering (FEE) of CTU in Prague are meeting the demand by organizing the third edition of the Career Days. The aim of the event, which will take place on 9th and 10th April 2024 at the premises of both faculties in Dejvice, is to enable direct contact of three and a half thousand students of the FEE and two and a half thousand students of the FME with employers of various sizes, from large Czech industrial giants to small progressive start-ups.

The Faculty of Electrical Engineering of CTU is always one step ahead. It is the first faculty in the Czech Republic to pilot the use of artificial intelligence in the educational process. Instead of lecturers, it will be avatars created by artificial intelligence who will give lectures. As a result, the lecturers will have more time to do research or supervise bachelor's and master's theses, while still being available to the students for seminars. From the new academic year 2024/2025, this technological solution will be extended to all courses.

Affordable autonomously controlled aerial robot with precise positioning and high quality 3D digital mapping for first responding firefighting units intervening in cluttered building interiors. This is what the winning drone that emerges from the 3D Mapping Challenge/UAS 5.0 competition should look like. The Multirobotic Systems group from the Faculty of Electrical Engineering at CTU succeeded in the semi-finals and advanced to the finals, which will take place April 9-11 in Kansas. A total of 11 teams that have passed the previous two rounds will compete for prizes worth a total of $987,500.

The first ever European Programming Championship has its winners. Students from the University of Warsaw take home the gold in the International Collegiate Programming Contest (ICPC). The best of the Czech representatives, the CTU team, finished 25th out of 52 competitors in Sunday's final. The competition was hosted by the Czech Technical University from 22 to 24 March in Prague - Dejvice.

The work of students who have completed the Graphic Design and 3D Modelling courses in the winter semester can be viewed at the Department of Computer Graphics and Interaction at the CTU Faculty of Engineering, Charles Square in Prague. The Semester exhibition started on Tuesday, March 19 with an opening ceremony, during which the three best student works were awarded. This year, the 24th edition of the exhibition took place.

Sixty high school students arrived on Friday 8 March for the event Become an AI expert for a day at FEE CTU. They took part in practical exercises that introduced them to research on VR, robots, ethical pitfalls of artificial intelligence, but also the joy of "scientific DIY".

The Czech branch of Siemens awarded the Werner von Siemens Prizes 2023 to the best students, young scientists, and teachers. The first place in the number of awards went to the Czech Technical University in Prague, with all six awards going to the Faculty of Electrical Engineering at the CTU. This is followed by the Academy of Sciences of the Czech Republic (5 winners) and Brno University of Technology (3 winners), Palacký University in Olomouc and Masaryk University (2 winners each), Charles University and the University of South Bohemia in České Budějovice (1 winner each). The expert juries selected winners from 496 applications, 20 awardees shared one million crowns. Women accounted for 29% of the total entries and 25% of the prize winners. Along with the students, the supervisors and mentors of their work also received a prize.
